Critically acclaimed ’52 Tuesdays’ Wednesday November 19

16-year-old Billie’s reluctant path to independence is accelerated when her mother reveals plans to gender transition and their time together becomes limited to Tuesday afternoons.

One day a week, every week, for a year.

Teenager Billie thinks she knows everything about her mother so is surprised when she learns of mum’s plan to transition from woman to man. On top of this there’s also the upsetting parental decision that Billie will live with her dad full  time for a year. Mother and daughter make a promise to meet every week without fail, every Tuesday, during the year.

Billie seems to watch with quiet tolerance as her previously close relationship with her mum becomes limited to unsatisfying Tuesday afternoons together and so, slowly, she seeks connections elsewhere. Taking advantage of the increasing disconnect between family members, Billie begins an unusual friendship with two older school kids where she gets to try the one thing she can’t work out: sex. However, as Billie asserts her independence and starts to mirror her mother’s increasingly inaccessible life, she discovers secrets are both a burden and necessity to getting what you want.

Filmed over the course of a year, once a week, every week – only on Tuesdays – these unique filmmaking rules bring a rare authenticity to this emotionally charged story of desire, responsibility and transformation.
